Inspired by a morning walk in Teesdale. Painted in thick, textured oil paint to capture the roughness of the landscape, it is built in layers with glazes and scumbled glazes. I was struck by the contrast between the warm, yellow winter light and the thawing cool, bluish snow. Painted on a stretched, cotton canvas.
